To help us get inspired to try new cuisines from around the
world, Roger Mooking, host of Everyday Exotic, shares his delicious
adventures and notes from across the globe. We'll be rolling them
out every Wednesday, so be sure to check back to find out where
Roger's food adventures takes him to next.
I love New Orleans so much! The food, the
people and the cultures are like no where else on the planet that
I've ever visited before. My most recent trip there was like a food
and music mashup that I could have previously only dreamed of. If
you ever have the chance to go during the Essence Music
Festival please do, it's all love.

I was inspired by this city for my cooking
demonstration and I did a dish inspired by the flavors of
the city with my special twist of course. Fried
oysters with some hot sauce and spices courtesy of the
legendary Patti LaBelle, she's a freak for food too. My dish
was a cucumber slaw in the flavors of mint julep, complete with
bourbon and alligator sausage. The dish was a huge hit and a great
way to start off a great weekend!
