Are you hooked on the new show SugarStars yet? We are absolutely obsessed and this week’s episodes confirmed our suspicions that this show is going to be a huge hit!
EPISODE 3
In the show’s third episode, the gang was all about sophistication. Their first assignment was to create a sweet table for a library fundraiser called The Book Lovers’ Ball. The pressure was on because a ton of celebrity authors were going to be guests at the ball. Yolanda really outdid herself with the stack of replica book cakes, don’t you think? The rest of the team worked on creating fondant-covered cookie letters, chocolate clusters inside paper nests, and my personal favourite, s’more books. Didn’t your heart stop when Caspar dropped a few of them?
Next up was the ice wine-inspired table for a party at a local winery. Taste and appearance were not the only requirements here. The team at Petite & Sweet was instructed to include ice wine as an ingredient in every single dessert. Yum! Yolanda created the most incredible 10-layer chocolate cake and decorated it to look like a barrel of grapes. It was breath-taking, to say the least. Elle, Caspar and Antonella worked on making sorbet, cheesecake bites, gelato and marshmallows, all infused with ice wine (a task easier said than done). While this project proved to be challenging, with the marshmallows and wine-infused pears initially not working, the team pulled through and created an amazing sweet table. Oh and did we mention that the table itself was actually sculpted ice? Insanity.
EPISODE 4
In the fourth episode of SugarStars, the gang was asked to create a skateboard-themed sweet table for a 9-year-old’s birthday party, as well as a couture centerpiece for a fashionista’s housewarming party. For the latter, the team covered a mannequin bust with white fondant and made a skirt out of grapes. They used gum paste, candy and feathers to make accent pieces. The result was something that looked straight off the runways of Paris. If you ask me, it looked good enough to wear.
Next up was the skateboard-themed table for Ethan’s 9th birthday party. The team went all out with chocolate-dipped potato chips, sugar cookies, cake in a jar, and a graffiti-inspired three-layer cake. Words cannot describe how shocked and in awe Ethan and his mom were at the incredible sweet table.
