The cold weather is officially upon us (trust us, we're not exactly thrilled about it either). But since there's no avoiding it, you might as well pull out your wool sweaters and scarves and cozy up to something warm and toasty. That's why this week, we're bringing you a list of our top 5 stews from the past year. This list is according to site stats, so these are the recipes that you have all been searching for the most. We hope you'll be inspired to give them a try because there really is nothing better than coming home to a warm bowl of beef stew.

1. Stew-Pendous Beef Stew with Biscuits

 stewpendous

Topping our list of top 5 stew recipes is this delicious-looking creation courtesy of Greta and Janet Podleski of Eat, Shrink and Be Merry. That's right, it's low in calories, too! At only 399 calories per serving (plus 143 per biscuit), it's impossible to say no to this recipe.

2. Beef and Roasted Root Vegetable Stew

Having a hard time finding ways to eat more vegetables? Not anymore! This stew by Nadia G. of Nadia G's Bitchin' Kitchen is loaded with carrots, parsnips, onions and beets (and of course, beef!).

3. Beef Stew

Chef Michael Smith can always be counted on for delicious soup and stew recipes, and this classic beef stew is no exception. What could be better than a mouth-watering, slow-cooked bowl after a long day?

4. Southwestern Beef Stew

Michael Smith is at it again with this Southwestern beef stew. With ingredients like corn, beans and jalapeno peppers, this is not your ordinary stew. It'll definitely spice up your dinner routine.

5. Beer Beef Stew

Coming in 5th place is this beer beef stew recipe by, once again, Michael Smith. This super-easy-to-make stew will please your whole family and keep you all warm.
