On Monday morning, we heard the tragic news that Food Network Canada chef Anthony Sedlak had passed away. Fans were introduced to Anthony back in 2005 on Superstar Chef Challenge and since then, he continued to wow us with shows like The Main and Family Cook-Off. His loss is deeply felt here at Food Network and our most heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
The response to his death has been overwhelming. Earlier in the week we heard from members of the Food Network Canada family, and today we'd like to share some of your responses compiled via Facebook, Twitter and on Food Network.
FOOD NETWORK
Laura: Anthony taught me how to cook by watching his show from a hospital bed. I was so heartbroken when I learned of [his] passing. [He] will be dearly missed.
Mia: RIP Chef! You will be missed.
Karamarie: Thank you Anthony, for sharing your many gifts, passions and warmth with the world. The first episode I looked up on this site was one of your own: "The Onion" episode. Your easy-going, creative and personable approach to food encouraged me - and thousands of others - to get off the couch, to go to the market and get into the kitchen. You will continue to inspire countless others for years to come.
Shiloh: Deeply saddened by his loss. My heart goes out to his Mom and Dad. Shocking indeed.....God now has an awesome chef. Rest in peace.
Sally: Anthony seemed to invite us all to be fearless in the kitchen. He made great food accessible to all and inspired us with his passion.
Sheryl: Your sweet smile and your passion for cooking will be missed....Rest in Peace. Now there is a wonderful cook in heaven...Thinking of your family.
