Eye Candy: Oh Canada!

Canada Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with food that is oh so patriotic! From coast to coast with sweet and savoury, we've got the images of some of Canada's most unique and flavourful foods!

I just love these red velvet cupcakes by Joanna Suan complete with little Canadian flags! Imagine the excitement of serving these sparkling cupcakes as fireworks explode in the background.

As far as I'm concerned, you can not celebrate Canadian cuisine with out talking about Poutine! Backpack Foodie perfectly captured the ideal poutine: extra crispy fries with fresh, thick and chewy curds. If you stare at this picture long enough you can almost hear the curds squeaking!

In season two of Pitchin' In we witnessed Chef Lynn Crawford battle her fear of heights in order to the harvest beautiful Bakeapples in beautiful Atlantic Canada. Naturally these little beauties had to be featured and luckily ~cupcakecowgrrl~ was able to share this au natural shot!

Flopping over to a west coast staple, Brian Pressey captured this shot of Bannock being cooked at Fort William National Historic Site in Thunder Bay Ontario. All you Top Chef Canada fans might even recall a few weeks ago when Chef Dale MacKay made this bread inspired by Canadian Aboriginals prompting host Thea Andrews to reminisce about sitting around the camp fire eating this traditional bread.
