My
love affair of unique and whimsical houseware items has been a long
one. I get no greater joy than spending a day walking around towns
and cities hunting for something new to grace my
kitchen counters or dining room table. I
think it could be classified as an addiction at this
point and one I know I share with other foodies.
Thankfully, for myself and other addicts living in, or visiting,
Toronto there is a store located in the historic
Distillery District sure to satiate any craving
you have for items that are as stylish as they are practical.
Bergo Designs is thoughtfully stocked with pieces that range
from funky and functional to artisanal and practical. Collections
feature various designers and companies from around the world mixed
in with some home-grown talent.
Although they carry everything from jewelry to furniture, for
me, it's the numerous pieces around the store that add personality
to your kitchen or dining room that always draw me in. They even
carry the
Ex Knife Holder which we featured recently in Bazaar.
Redoing my kitchen is not in this year's budget, so investing in
a few character pieces, to give the room a bit more presence and
personality is the plan. I adore the whimsy of pieces from Alessi
and the practicality of Blomus design, both of which grace many of
the display cabinets at Bergo, and hopefully my kitchen in the near
future.
It's also a great place to pick up a gift for the foodie who has
everything. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are a great
resource to help you find that something special.
Be warned though, Bergo is a sizable space and you'll want to
make sure you give yourself enough time to take it all
in.
