How can I become a Food Network Canada Community Member?
Signing up is easy as pie. At the top right corner of the page, click on the 'Join' button. You can sign up with your email address by entering a few key details like your name, email and password. Additionally, you can also sign in with your Facebook or Google+ account. We'll send you a confirmation email and once you verify, you can rate recipes, comment and save favourites to your Recipe Box and even upload your own recipes! *Please note that once you've signed up using Facebook or Google+, you cannot use the same email address associated with those accounts to create another Community account.
What is account linking? Why am I presented with this option when signing in with Facebook or Google+?
Account linking is an easy way to save you time when logging into our Community. After you've created a Community account, you can link it with either your Facebook or Google+ accounts so that next time you visit Community (and are already logged into Facebook or Google+), you'll be automatically signed in—no hassle! **Please note that if you're linking your native and social accounts, both must share the same email address for this process to work.
Do I have to pay to become a member of the Food Network Canada Community?
Nope! You can sign up and use our Community service completely free of charge. We can't buy your groceries, though—that part is up to you.
Help, my account was linked with another account by accident. What do I do to unlink it?
In the event that this happens, send an email at email@example.com with the subject line "Community - Account Linking" and we'll get you sorted out.
I’ve forgotten my password – what do I do?
Don't panic! On the login screen, click the 'Forgot Password' link next to the Password field. Enter your email address and you’ll receive a reset password email.
I’ve still not received a confirmation email to activate my account – what can I do?
Despite our best attempts, glitches sometimes happen. If you've signed up for an account and have been waiting more than 6 hours for a confirmation email, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Community - Request Confirmation Email." Include your name and Community email address and we can help.
I can see an error message saying my account is temporarily locked. What does that mean?
This is a security feature to prevent unauthorized people from logging into your account by trying to guess your password. Our system will lock your account after five incorrect attempts and you'll need to reach out to us a email@example.com with the subject line "Community - Locked Account" so we can help.
When I register for a Foodnetwork.ca account using my Facebook/Google/social media credentials, what information are you taking from my Facebook/Google/social account?
When you link a social media account with Community, you'll be granting us access to your basic profile details: name, gender, age, city and province of residence and postal code.
Why do you collect my email address?
You'll need your email address to sign in to your Community account and to reset your password. If you upload a recipe, we'll also use your email address to notify you when it's been approved.

How can I edit my profile?
First, make sure you're signed in to your Community account. You can get to your profile from any page on Foodnetwork.ca by clicking either 'Recipe Box' or the small thumbnail in the top right corner of the screen. Once there, make sure you're in Private view and click 'Edit Profile' to adjust your personal settings all in one place.
What's the difference between the Private and Public views on my profile? What information is visible to other Food Network Community members from my profile page and Recipe Box?
This feature makes it easy to see what information on your profile is visible to other community members. While in Private view, you and only you can see all the details of your profile. Toggling to Public view will allow you to see your profile as other members do.
Can I change my password?
Yes! If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking on the 'Forgot Password' link on the Community sign in page. If you're already in your account, you can change your password by clicking 'Edit Profile' beneath your profile picture and selecting the 'Change Password' link at the bottom of the window. Please note that passwords must be a minimum 6 characters, including at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter and 1 number.
How do I change my profile picture?
From your Profile page while in Private view, click 'Edit Profile'. Near the bottom of the form is an 'Edit Your Photo' section where you can upload/change your profile picture. We encourage you put a picture in your profile. Why? Because you look great, of course! Please note that images must be under 3MB and in either a JPG, GIF or PNG format.
How do I delete my account?
In order to delete your account at this time, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Community - Delete Account" and we can help you out.
Can I change my email address?
With the help of a Community administrator, yes. Simply send a quick email to email@example.com with the subject line "Community - Change Email Address" and we can help.
Can I use Community features while in Incognito mode in my browser?
Incognito (private) mode often causes problems with login, site navigation, recipe uploading and other features and for this reason, we recommend that you don't use Community with it turned on. If you're experiencing issues, please check to make sure you're not in Incognito mode before reaching out to us for help.
How do I save recipes from FN.ca?
Once you've signed in, you can save any recipe on the site to your Recipe Box by clicking the red 'Add to Recipe Box' button below the recipe's image. Next time you to go your Recipe Box's 'Favourites' tab, it will be there waiting for you.
Can I save recipes from other sites?
No, only recipes from Foodnetwork.ca can be saved to your Recipe Box. The good news is that we have 11,000+ to choose from!
How do I remove a recipe I’ve added to Favourites from My Recipe Box?
Simply hover over the recipe you want to delete and a red bar will appear on the side with a trash can icon. Click the trash can and the recipe will be removed from your Recipe Box.
How do I submit a recipe to FN.ca? Do I need any information before I get started?
You can submit your very own recipe by selecting 'Create A Recipe' from the Community menu in the top right corner of any page on the site. Our Recipe Creation Tool will allow you to submit and share a recipe in three simple steps. Before you get started, we recommend you have a basic version of your recipe jotted down along with an accompanying photo. The photo is optional but we (and other site visitors) would love to see how the final dish looks so we recommend adding one.
What kind of recipes can I submit to FN.ca?
Our userbase is primarily made up of home cooks who are inspired by Food Network Canada programming and looking to cook fun, delicious and [often] healthy meals for friends and family (don't worry, there are plenty of recipes for those who want to indulge, too!). Breakfast, brunch, lunch, snacks, dinner or dessert; as long as your recipe complies with our submission terms and conditions, the sky's the limit!
Can I use rich text formatting (HTML) in a recipe I'm submitting?
No, our system doesn't support rich text in user-submitted recipes at this time and will strip out any additional formatting.
I’m using a recipe I found on another site – can I still submit it to FN.ca?
No, as part of our submission terms and conditions, we ask that all recipes submitted be your own original creations. The exceptions are adaptations; as part of the Recipe Creation Tool, we provide space for you to credit someone else for your recipe's inspiration.
I don’t have a saved picture of my recipe, what do I do?
Recipes with images get more views and ratings on our site, but we can't all be photographers. You can still upload your recipe without a photo and it will show up on the site.
How do I edit a recipe I submitted? How do I change the picture?
Once you submit a recipe, it's sent to our moderators who will review it before publishing the recipe to the site. If you realize after you've submitted that you've left something out, spotted a typo or need to change the picture, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Community - Change My Recipe". If you're requesting to change the photo, please note that images submitted must be minimum 460 x 230 px and be in either JPG, PNG or GIF format.
Can I delete the recipe I submitted to the site?
As part of the submission terms and conditions, recipes submitted to Foodnetwork.ca will become property of the website, meaning you will not be able to request your recipe be removed or deleted.
How long will it take for my recipe to appear on the site?
Our moderators work as quickly as possible to review submitted recipes and ensure they make sense, don't contain offensive content and include enough information for other users to make! While we can't guarantee an exact time, we do try to ensure same-day turnaround, but it may take up to 2 days.
After I submit a recipe to FN.ca and it's approved, where will I find my recipe?
When our moderators approve your recipe, it will be published to the site! We'll send you an email with a link to the recipe on the site. Additionally, you can do a search for the recipe using its title or find it in the 'My Recipes' tab of your Recipe Box.
Can my submitted recipe be rejected?
In a few cases, yes. If your recipe violates our terms and conditions or contains offensive material, we have the right to not publish it. Additionally, if your recipe is missing information or is too difficult for other users to understand, we'll contact you from email@example.com and follow up with you.
How will Foodnetwork.ca use my recipe?
We're passionate about food and we always want to showcase our users' recipes in the best light. If we use your recipe in a future cookbook, recipe compilation, social media channels, etc., you will always be credited—we like to share the love! You can review our submission terms and conditions here.
What profile information will be displayed once my recipe is published on Food Network Canada’s site?
Your name will be displayed on your recipe along with your profile image – the same image that is part of your Community membership profile.
Where can I add my comments on FN.ca?
Commenting is available on all articles, photo galleries, videos and recipes, located at the bottom of the page.
How can I add my comments on FN.ca?
Once you've logged in to Community, you're good to go! Simply find the comments section of the article, photo gallery, video or recipe you're interested in and have your say.
How will I know if someone commented on my recipe?
You can see comments left on your recipe in the comments section beneath the ingredients and directions. You can easily find your recipes you've submitted (and that have been approved) through the 'My Recipes' tab in your Community Profile. It's a good idea to check your recipes often as people post questions related to the recipe's preparation, ingredient substitutions, etc.
How will I know if someone replied to my comment?
Currently, the best way to keep up to date with comments is to check back to the pages you've left them on.
What do I do if I see an offensive comment?
Our Community is meant to be a friendly place to chat about all things food, but occasionally someone will try to spoil the fun (this is the Internet, after all). You can report any offensive comments by hovering over the negative comment and clicking the small flag icon that appears to let our moderators know what's up.
