I started Beaucoup Bakery in Vancouver in 2012 after studying pâtisseries in Paris, and spending months eating my way through France and Italy. I started my own design firm and had been a designer for about nine years in total. But food and baking had always been an obsession for me, so I moved to Paris to fulfill my passion for food. When I was a child, I taught myself to cook and bake using library books, and spending my allowance on ingredients–I was born a foodie!
After I returned home from Paris, I decided I wanted to open a bakery. I was inspired by the French pâtisserie where I studied in Paris, the North American classics that I grew up baking, and the Asian flavours from my heritage. I wanted to create a space through which my community could find inspiration (even with something as simple as a chocolate chip cookie)! My intention was to make someone’s day a little brighter through a beautiful space, a perfect cup of coffee and a delicate treat.
At Beaucoup, we are best known for our croissants, which were cited as the city’s best in a number of publications including Vancouver magazine and Vancouver Sun. We are also infamous for our Peanut Butter Cookie Sandwich, Kouign Amann (flaky, buttery, caramelized sugar-filled pastry) and Black Sesame Religieuse (pastry filled with black sesame cream), all featured in the Globe and Mail.
Most people have come to know our little bakery as a home away from home, and a place that has created some pretty mean cravings!
