Taste, a restaurant festival that takes place in over 20 cities around the world, lands in Toronto for four delicious days in late July.  Canada’s largest city was chosen as the first North American city to host this vibrant food festival and Food Network Canada is thrilled to see that some familiar faces will be showing off what they do best – making amazing food!

Mark McEwan, Top Chef Canada‘s host, will have three of his three restaurants – Fabbrica, One and Bymark –  contributing decadent plates at the festival.Mark-Mcewan-Fabbrica
Fabbrica’s lamb Bolognese crostini with minted ricotta cheese is one dish Mark McEwan will have available at the Taste of Toronto festival.

That’s not the only Top Chef Canada connection! There will be two former competitors, one of which took the title, and a special guest judge from season four.

Carl Heinrich, season two winner of the competition series, will be at Taste of Toronto with his restaurant Richmond Station. He will be dishing out station burgers on milk buns with Oka aged cheddar and beet chutney.

David Chang, renown chef and founder of the Momofuku restaurants in New York City, Sydney and Toronto, was a special guest judge on the last season of Top Chef Canada. For Taste, he’ll be serving up samplings of what he’s famous for: ramen, pork buns and kimchi salad.

Steve Gonzalez was a competitor on the first season of Top Chef Canada. Now, he’s opened his own restaurant Valdez where he serves vibrant Latin street food. He’ll be serving boldly flavoured plates that speak to his Latin American roots.

It won’t be a summer food festival without some barbecue! Barque Smokehouse will be serving all things smoked: dry rub chicken wings, ribs and duck tacos. We know our viewers love Barque; the restaurant was featured on a special fan favourite episode of You Gotta Eat Here! You can watch the video here to get more of a taste of Barque.
