Chef Off!

Chef Blackie and Chef Lyon arrive at Gallery 345 and are invited to study the conceptual art pieces on display. With the artists as their apprentices, the chefs will need to prepare hors de oeuvres inspired by the art and once the prep work has been done, the artists will blindly plate their dishes.

A condo complex at 90 Edgewood is having a neighbourhood barbeque and chef Lyon and chef Blackie are doing the catering. Will they be able to feed 30 hungry neighbours with access to food limited to what they can beg, borrow and steal from the residents of the complex?

Chef Blackie and chef Lyon are brought to Seven Numbers restaurant, an unpretentious restaurant with high quality gourmet fare. Their challenge is to produce restaurant quality food using hot dog carts located in the back alley.

Chef Lyon and chef Blackie are brought to the top of the line cooking facilities of Cirillo’s Culinary Academy. However, they will NOT be able to use any of the equipment, including stoves, ovens, or anything that typically produces heat. Do they have what it takes to strategically pick menu items that they can cook with little or no heat for our judges and guests?

Chef Lyon and Chef Blackie are given 3 hours and a Chinese/Japanese restaurant each to create a dinner for 16 guests including 3 judges. The catch? They will need to utilize the cooking equipment as well as the staff from the restaurants to create the ultimate French Bistro Experience!

Chef Lyon and Chef Blackie are brought to “The Stop” at Wychwood Barns, and given an abundant pantry of local proteins and a greenhouse for their vegetables and starches. The catch? All of their waste will be measured at the end of the challenge and will factor in to the final judgement.

Chef Lyon and chef Blackie arrive at a beautiful suburban home and meet the homeowner Wendy Reed. It’s Wendy’s birthday and she wants to celebrate with a great meal. The catch? What Wendy really wants is a night out with her friends. So the chefs will be cooking a meal for Wendy’s daughter and her friends. The children will not only be the chefs’ apprentices, but they will each be able to select an ingredient that MUST be included in the creations of the chefs.
