Chef Off!

Chef*Off is a cooking competition between two of Canada’s greatest chefs.

The catch? Anything goes.

Chef Michael Lyon from Kelowna and Chef Michael Blackie from Ottawa must cook to win – with the odds stacked against them. Each chef is forced to cope with new challenges like bizarre ingredients, finding a place to cook, rules that suddenly change, and judges who might be culinary experts or grade three kids. With each episode, the battle becomes more intense and the punishment more humiliating.

Michael Lyon

Chef Michael Lyon first got his start in kitchens at the ripe age of 14 and has not stopped since. After completing training at George Brown College in Toronto, Michael honed his skills in Toronto, and moved west in 2001. Michael’s move to Kelowna and the historic Hotel Eldorado places him in the ultimate setting for a Chef. Here Michael strives to take advantage of the Okanagan's bounty of seasonal and organic products provided by local suppliers. With a food philosophy best characterized as “French forward with a Rocky Mountain twist,” Michael has found the perfect playground for his talents to flourish.

Michael Blackie

Born in Leicestershire, England and raised in Montreal, Michael has been cooking for over 22 years on 3 continents. Chef Blackie loves to push the limits of cuisine. He is a multiple medalist at the prestigious Gold Medal Plates culinary competition and placed 2nd at the national Canadian Culinary Championships event which was featured in Mark McEwan’s television show “The Heat”. Michael was the opening Chef of Brookstreet Hotel, and is now the executive chef of the National Arts Centre.
