The gastronomic adventurer heads back in time through a myriad of historical and mythical culinary worlds on a mission to recreate famous period dishes for the ultimate 21st century banquets. In each episode, Heston explores a period of extraordinary gastronomic innovation; recreating ‘lost’ recipes, discovering forgotten flavours and ingredients and travelling to remote areas to source unusual foods.

Heston Blumenthal

Heston Blumenthal was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. At the age of 16, he travelled to France and became fascinated with the world of food. Heston spent a decade learning the basics of French cuisine from books and worked in various jobs to fund research trips to France. A self-taught chef, Heston has been described as a ‘culinary alchemist’ for his innovative style of cuisine. His work researches the molecular compounds of dishes to enable a greater understanding of taste and flavour.
