ICE COLD CASH is a fun and fast-paced food-based trivia show that’ll whip up your brain and tenderize your funny bone. Hilarious host Joe Motiki rides his specially rigged ice cream bike, trawling for unsuspecting cold-treat-seekers. Little do they know that he has no ice cream and they’ve just wandered into a game show!
No one has ever actually made Joe feel like running away – that is until he meets mother-daughter, Deborah and Symone. Who knew Joe could run the 100 metres? Find out why Jerry quickly gets nicknamed Simon, Aaron and even Kanye. And husband-wife team, Dennis and Karen, shock everyone with a pure wild guess about Italian desserts.
As their winnings get bigger, BFFs Hailey and Sarah’s stress levels follow suit. They also shock us with their knowledge of explosives! Laura and Tracey whip the crowd into a frenzy with their shrieking energy and since Sheldon and Julia don’t drink bourbon, they’re forced to answer with a genuine wild guess.
Dale and Carrie are two hilarious friends who get culinary hints from algae and a much-loved children’s author. Mom-daughter team Maria and Rachela can thank a famous cartoon cat for one of their answers. And Stella and Nancy are two friends who dig wine, but what about wine regions? All this and you get to hear Joe try to pronounce bouillabaisse.
They’re brothers, but Jonathan and Michael exchange taunts, insults and at least one actual punch in their fight for trivia supremacy. Jeanine proves why the odd wild guess can be a lucrative strategy, while gambling enthusiast, Chi, shows how the experts play the odds, while discovering how important it is to read the instructions before you make mac and cheese.
Julianna used to work in a cheese store, but her partners, Darrin and Aislinn soon find out she’s more reliable for questions about crabs. Wendi and Sean are a clever and hilarious mother-son duo who take turns being the boss, and can the Two Julies tell the difference between a panzarotti and a calzone? What the heck is the difference?
Jen and Liz learn a valuable lesson about how to prepare steak tartare. Zovidar and Rudy spend as much time arguing as they do answering. And Joe tries to cajole the shy but clever Vicky into doing a money dance. All this, plus you might be surprised at how poorly people act out a charade for chili dog.
Are you smarter than a six-year-old? How about six-year-old twins? Find out how Nicholas, Lucas and their mom, Donita fare with food trivia – you might be surprised. Barb and Andrew are hilarious friends whose big task is to spell euchaly…er, ukalip…um, an Australian tree. And Dave is a smart cookie, but does he know the name of the sauce you put on lobster? All this and you get to see people act out the charade for “Chocolate Milkshake.”
Fernando and Molly plow through an impressive array of German, Japanese and French answers, but an obscure Spanish tomato-tree slows them down. Max and Melissa find out which vegetable is also an antibiotic. And Mike and Aaron try to guess what folks in America’s Deep South use to shut up noisy dogs. Also, Joe challenges passersby to identify Cockaleekie. Um, that sounds rude!!
Suzanne and Dale can’t seem to get over the fact that they’re actually on a TV game show, but have a startling volume of knowledge about coffee and ice cream. Melissa and Rebecca refuse to work as a team, which seems to work, at least for a while, and Rick and Barry are two jokers who have a little trouble deciding which part of a cow is the front and which part is the back.
Chris and Meagan are two smart cookies, who go far and soon learn that “Halo Halo” ain’t a way to say “hi.” Sarah and Nadia can’t stop talking about edible underwear for some reason and Laura, Jim and Jay aren’t just smart and beautiful – they can sing! And to cap things off, Joe Motiki makes his Ice Cold Cash impromptu crooning debut.
John and Raquel show off their command of culinary history, pop culture and geography, but will they be brought down by a cheesy question? Shannon is one smart cookie who sweats out a question about ostrich ferns. And Laura is a crowd charmer who answers that eternal question, “what did Nicolas Appert invent in 1810?” Plus, see what happens when people try to act out a charade for Buffalo chicken wings.
Tara and Lilly dig down deep to come up with some Deep South Cajun answers – but how well do they know their lamb bones? Marla and Michael have an impressive degree of knowledge when it comes to giant gourds. And David and Aaron are two brothers who will make our Greek and Italian friends proud. Well, at least for a while. All this, plus a side-splitting game of What the Heck is This – Charades when folks try to act out “Devil’s Food Cake.”
Sandy and Priscilla seem to dig mixed drinks and even know how to convert sugar to alcohol, but there’s nothing impaired about their trivia knowledge. Matt surprises Justin with his knowledge of German knives. Jackie is a confident foodie who sounds like she knows how to cook. And have you ever seen anyone try to act out “Fish and Chips?” Only the fish part is easy.
Marc and Kristen start off slowly, but pull out some winning answers on obscure raw meat dishes and heat-fighting proteins. Rachel and Grace get into some serious cash, nailing questions about Portugese-named Japanese fare, but can a little-bitty strawberry trip them up? And Adrian and Jessica know their grapes, sauces and even caviar, but a Sanskrit ingredient throws them for a loop.
Fiorella and Adam discover that though they’ve eaten Reuben sandwiches, they never actually thought about what the ingredients might be. Dan can’t spell, but thank goodness, Lilah can or they would’ve been out of the game early! And Nina and Carol learn how navel oranges got their names. Plus, Joe tries to find anyone who knows what’s in a nice helping of head cheese?
Jo-anne and Anjana are friends who prove the know how to chao and bao with the best of them. Mack and Mark win enough to afford an afternoon of pints after guessing which ice cream maker has a meaningless name. And Ally impresses her group of fans with her Spanish translation and knowledge of cutting techniques, but what to do with a resting turkey?
Angela, Flo and Stephanie use host Joe as a human coat rack while they show off their impressive knowledge of Japanese words. Hani and Brianna struggle to remember just how long newlyweds are supposed to keep their frozen wedding cakes and Ruth is a brainy cheerleader who actually does an inspiring job of cheering for herself.
Find out who goes all the way to win the top prize in this episode. Joanne is pretty confident with her answers, but daughter Cara can’t stop screaming, “Wait!!” Mike seems to think that pounding his forehead with his fists will help the right answers pop out and Linda and Vanessa don’t waste any time popping out their own answers – but are they too fast?
What do you get when you mix French Canadian and British answers? Answer: Nathalie, Nicky and Funny. Ella and Kim are keenish, but do they know what neenish refers to? Bonnie knows how to scream and shows off this talent often, but will Joe accept “p’orange” as a legitimate answer? And Dave is an answer machine who quickly lures a big crowd of fans.
Petra blows away her daughter Melissa with what she knows about French word origins. Keri and Tammy are good friends who come precipitously close to blowing it all off the top by almost picking a ridiculous answer. And a fun Scottish father-daughter team prove they can make some pretty odd sounds and celebrate with a wee bagpipe performance!
In less than five minutes, best friends Teleka and Kanza rollercoaster through fear, anger, panic and confusion while thoroughly entertaining Ice Cream Man, Joe. Barbara and Paula end up with a lot more lunch money than they’d set aside for the day and Vijaya struggles to guess which animal helps produce margarine. No, not butter, margarine!
Akim and Thanuya almost get stumped on just their second question, but they make a remarkable comeback and show off some impressive knowledge of who ate what in The Godfather. Sisters Krista, Jennifer and Leanne have a knack for singing and answering in sync, but can they tell Italian cheeses from pastas? And Keith and Sylvia know hotdogs go with stadiums, but do they know which fruit goes in a Belgian lambic drink?
Catherine and Gord waste no time trucking through correct answers, until their knowledge of garlic spreads tests their relationship. Holy Aioli! Mike, Mike and Greg are bike trick experts but Joe finds a way to upstage them with his tricked-out bike. And when Emily and Evan aren’t sure about an answer, they rely on the old standby: Rock, Paper, Scissors. Will the law of averages help them win?
Brandon and Milani learn something rather gross about what you might find in your typical chocolate bar (and it ain’t sugar). Ryan and Pina are French teachers but how grande is their French culinary vocabulary? And Rosanna and Gloria are sisters who are forced to wonder what happens to over-whipped whip cream? Plus, see how Joe turns turkey stuffing into an interpretive dance!
