Rachael vs Guy Celebrity Cook-off

This year’s showdown will feature two of Food Network’s culinary A-listers, Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri, leading teams of celebrities as they battle it out over the course of seven weeks for top Hollywood honor and a sizable donation to the charity of their choice.

Competing in the Season 2 cook-off is a straight-from-Hollywood lineup: Chilli from the pop/R&B group TLC; actor and comedian Gilbert Gottfried; designer, author and philanthropist Cornelia Guest; actor and reality television star Dean McDermott; actor Kathy Najimy from Sister Act; former NFL player, Super Bowl champion and MVP Hines Ward; singer Carnie Wilson from Wilson Philips; and two-time Olympic figure skater and three-time U.S. National Champion Johnny Weir.

Will Team Rachael be able to pull off back-to-back wins against Team Guy, or will Guy prove that Rachael’s early success was simply beginner’s luck?

Rachael Ray

Rachael was born into cooking as a way of life. "My first vivid memory is watching Mom in a restaurant kitchen," she says. "Everyone on both sides of my family cooks." She landed at Macy's Marketplace at the candy counter and then as the manager of the fresh foods department. After Macy's, Ray helped open a prestigious New York gourmet marketplace. She then moved upstate to be a food buyer and chef. As a way to increase grocery sales during the holidays, Ray began a series of cooking classes and 30 Minute Meals was born.

Guy Fieri

This likeable, laid-back California guy with his trademark bleached-blond spiky hair began his love affair with food at the age of 10, selling soft pretzels from a three-wheeled bicycle cart (named “The Awesome Pretzel”) he built with his father. By selling pretzels and washing dishes, Guy earned enough money in six years to study abroad as an exchange student in Chantilly, France. There he gained a profound appreciation for international cuisine and the lifestyle associated with it. Guy attended University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management.
