I have been looking to buy some Panko breadcrumbs for a few recipes I want to try but have been unable to find this product. Does anyone know where I can purchase same (I live in London, Ontario, Canada).
Much appreciated.

Try The Asian Food Aisle at your largest local super market, They're a fairly popular item and should be there.

I'm with Wayner on this one. I just purchased a couple of boxes yesterday at the Loblaws Supercentre in my area (They carry Dynasty Brand, Kikkoman and another which was in a clear, resealable bag). I found them in the Asian aisle where they sell all the imported soya sauces, fish sauces, rice noodles etc. I'm sure most major retail grocery chains carry them. Another area in the supermarket where you might find them is where they sell sushi. A lot of the supermarkets now have a sushi station where they sell pre-packaged sushi, pickled ginger, wasabi, etc.. they may stock the panko breadcrumbs there as well. Have someone who is familiar with the store stock show you where they shelve them. On that note, made some fried shrimp breaded with the panko crumbs, served with fresh lemon slices, deeeelish!

Wow Ava, that sounds insane! Do you have any recipes that you refer to or just get into it?

Hey Val,
The Panko crumbs I used (Dynasty Brand) had instructions right on the box. I used frozen raw shrimp I got from Costco (peeled, deveined), thawed under cold running water, I remove the tails, but some like to leave them on, it looks prettier.
Basically once they've thawed, I season them with Emeril's Essence Creole Seasoning (use as little or as much as you like, it's got bite!) Next dredge them in flour until lightly coated, next dip them in a mixture of equal parts of flour and water (kind of like a runny batter), shake off the excess batter, then bread them with the Panko crumbs. They are now ready to be fried. I just use a deep stainless steel pot with a few inches of canola, they take no time at all to cook, once the breading is golden they're done. Put on a dish lined with paper towel to absorb excess oil. Voila.
It really is a simple method, but very tasty. I just like fresh squeezed lemon juice over them, or you can serve them with seafood cocktail sauce or an Aioli sauce. The Panko breading is my favourite method because it really gives the shrimp a nice light, crunchy coating, they do not absorb a lot of oil, not greasy at all. We even reheated some leftovers the next day and it was still crispy.
So there ya go, you can keep it simple or look up some fancier recipes as well (Coconut Shrimp sounds yummy too.)

Thank you all for your replies.
Although I have asked the stock person if they carry the item and they advised that they do not, I will look for myself in the Asian isle as you would think it is an item that is more popular now.
As far as I am concerned, there is no comparison between "dried bread crumbs" and "Panko bread crumbs"....yummy.
Much appreciated.

You can most likely find them in your regular grocery store. Ask a clerk.
Otherwise, try asian grocers!
Good Luck.
PS. Or google locations around London.

Hi Tastyideas,
I contacted Sobey's customer care division inquiring about " Panko Breadcrumbs " and this is the reply that was forwarded to me:
Hello Al, Thank you for contacting Sobeys Customer Care to ask about the availability of Panko Bread Crumbs. We strive to carry a wide variety of products to meet our customers’ needs, and on receiving your inquiry we contacted our Merchandising Department to determine whether the product was available for you. The Merchandising Team has informed us that the Bakery just discontinued our Panko Bread Crumbs. Most stores will likely still have some in the Bakery. If not, the Seafood department also carries them under the SKU 229740 Thank you again for your inquiry, and please contact us again with any questions or comments. Maria D'Emilio Sobeys Ontario Customer Care 1-888-821-5557 Fax: 905-671-5275
Hope this might be of some assistance to you,

I also have a hard time finding panko, I have to go in to a specialty market called Pete's (which I LOVE) but I can't get there very often. I will also try checking out my Asian food aisle one more time, just in case.

I've actually been buying mine at the No-Frills near me. Maybe your location will be a consideration for something like this. I'm north of Toronto.

Hit your favorite local Asian restaurant and ask...they will know for sure. I am sure they will part with a poly bag of the stuff if you ask nicely...if not any major hotel in town should be able to hook you up with enough to tinker with. Hit the Delta and ask for a supervisor named Dave...tell him Ken from Sun Peaks sent ya...your in!!

I just found a HUGE box of Panko bread crumbs at Costco (I live in Burlington, Ontario) - two resealable bags in the box and the cost was only $4.89 - a bargoon!! Hope you can also find them at the Costco in London!

I cant believe the number of post unable to get Panko Bread Crumbs, I live in a small ontario town with only one grocery store and I have at least two options, Sushi Chef and another brand that escapes me at the moment.
They are amazing and I use them on fish, toppings like mac and cheese, and I love to make turkey meatballs with asian spices and roll them in Panko and sprinkle with olive oil and bake in the oven, crunchy asian meatballs..mmmmm
