Laura Calder

Award-winning author and television host, Laura Calder, returns for Season 2 of Recipe to Riches.  The well known host of Food Network’s French Food at Home, Calder garnered a prestigious James Beard Award for ‘Best food television show in a fixed location’ and hosted the James Beard nominated one hour special, The Château Dinner.  She was also a participating host in the Food Network Canada Christmas special, 'Twas the Night Before Dinner.  

  

Born and raised in Eastern Canada, she began her career in journalism before turning her attention to food, studying at the Dubrulle Culinary Institute in Vancouver and at the École de Cuisine LaVarenne in France.  

  

Calder was recently made a Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole by the French government for her work in promoting French cuisine.  Her book ‘French Taste: Elegant Everyday Eating’ was awarded Gold at the Cuisine Canada Cookbook Awards, and her latest book ‘Dinner Chez Moi: The Fine Art of Feeding Friends’ was released by HarperCollins in September 2011. 

After having spent a decade in France, Calder now lives in Toronto.
