Braided Egg Bread

Prepare dough in a bread machine and finish in a conventional oven for the traditional braided shape or complete in the machine for the same great taste.

Directions for: Braided Egg Bread


¾ cup Natrel Lactose Free Milk

2 egg, beaten

1 Tbsp margarine

3 cup all purpose flour

3 Tbsp granulated sugar

1 tsp salt

2 tsp bread machine yeast


1. ADD ingredients to bread machine according to manufacturer’s directions. Select “dough” cycle. Remove dough to floured surface. Punch down; cover and let rest 5 minutes. Divide into 3 sections. Roll each into a 18” (45 cm) long rope. Braid the ropes together on a baking sheet. Cover with a tea towel. Let rise in warm place (85oF/29oC) until doubled, about 30 minutes.

2. BAKE at 350oF (180oC) on middle oven rack for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden. Remove from baking sheet immediately, cool on wire rack.

3. Tip: · For an attractive finish, brush dough with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds just before baking.
