Cooked down with some red onion and diced apple, this chutney is really easy to make and is a welcomed addition to a bowl of rice and vegetables, served on the side with a roast chicken or even with a soft cheese like Brie or Camembert.

ingredients

cup white vinegar
½
cup water
1 ½
cup pitted dates, finely chopped
1
red onion, halved and thinly sliced

Tbsp liquid honey

tsp tandoori masala powder
2
tsp sea salt
1
tsp ground black pepper
1
pinch cloves
1
Spartan apple, peeled, cored and diced

Step 1

Place all ingredients except the apple in a large pan and bring to a simmer on medium-high heat.

Step 2

Reduce to medium heat and let cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 3

Transfer half of mixture to a blender, purée until very smooth and return to pan.

Step 4

Stir in diced apple and continue to cook until the apple is tender, approximately 6-8 minutes.

Step 5

Transfer to a container, let cool, cover until needed.

Step 6

Will keep in the fridge for up to 1 week.
