About the Cast
Jesse Palmer Ottawa native Jesse Palmer is recognized as a commentator for TSN/ESPN and for his starring role on season five of the popular reality series The Bachelor. The former football player played for the University of Florida as an alternate quarterback with Doug Johnson and then Rex Grossman, spent four years with The New York Giants, and in 2005 spent time with the San Francisco 49ers. He later played for the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes. Palmer’s broadcast career began with Fox Sports Net, for which he did analysis for NFL games. He was also a game and studio analyst for CSTV, the NFL Network and has done studio work with MSG. In 2008, Palmer became an analyst for ESPN College Football Primetime, and a studio analyst on College Football Live, ESPN’s daily college football show. In 2009, Palmer added ABC Studio analyst to his duties, joining longtime analyst John Saunders. Palmer’s father, Bill, also played in the CFL, with the Ottawa Rough Riders and his brother, Billy, played college football at Notre Dame.
Laura Calder was born and raised in Eastern Canada. She attended university in Canada and the U.K., and began her career in journalism before turning to food, studying at the Dubrulle Culinary Institute in Vancouver and at Ecole de Cuisine LaVarenne in France. Calder is author of the cookbooks French Food at Home and French Taste, elegant, everyday, eating, the latter of which was awarded gold at the Canadian Culinary Cookbook Awards in 2010. Her next book, Dinner Chez Moi was released in September 2011.
Calder wrote and hosted 78 episodes of the Food Network series (airing worldwide) French Food at Home, which won a James Beard Award for best food television show in a fixed location. She also hosted the James Beard nominated one-hour special, The Château Dinner, and was a participating host in the Food Network Canada Christmas special, 'Twas the Night Before Dinner.
After having spent a decade in France, Calder now lives in Toronto.
Dana McCauley is the Culinary Director at Janes Family Foods. In this role she's responsible for new product innovation and culinary communication. As the former publisher of Topline Trends, (an online resource for the latest trends in food and nutrition information) Dana has long been acknowledged as one of North America's foremost food trend experts. Dana has translated her food trend expertise into countless new food product projects for customers such as well-known companies like McCain Foods and Coca-Cola.
Dana likes to say that her professional life has had a life of its own. After she obtained her degree in English literature and went to culinary school, she had no thought of ever combining her careers but a couple of decades later she is the author of countless food articles and five cookbooks. She credits cookbook writing for introducing her to a new career in developing new products.
McCauley is the mother of a teenage son and is married to well-known Toronto chef Martin Kouprie. They live harmoniously just north of Toronto in a house with well stocked cupboards.
Tony Chapman is the Founder and CEO of Capital C, one of Canada's leading advertising agencies. Three time nominee and winner of Marketing Magazines coveted Agency of the Year. They have won more than 65 Gold and Best of Show awards in competitions around the world, and their industry leading social marketing practice has been featured in television documentaries in Canada, the U.K. and Australia. Tony Chapman is one of the youngest individuals to be inducted into the Marketing Hall of Legends. A passionate Canadian, and a visionary in his field, he is a sought after keynote presenter at major industry and political conferences, as well as a frequent contributor to the mainstream media. In May 2010, he was the co-keynote speaker at Canada 3.0, sharing the stage with Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Commerce.
He is currently finishing his first book entitled Marketing at the Speed of Life™ where he offers organizations and individuals key insights and a road map to leverage the power and potential of social media.
In addition to his work at Capital C, Tony invests time on campus every year combining a speaking tour as well as sponsoring innovation projects at two Canadian Universities. He is also actively involved with an inner city project with the Boys and Girls Club.
