On May 20th, we’re celebrating Food Revolution Day to raise awareness about Jamie Oliver’s wonderful initiative to promote food education and better access to good, fresh, nutritious food around the world.
To mark the special occasion, Jamie will be kicking off the day with a relay of live videos on his Facebook page then handing over the event to culinary leaders in 10 countries, including Canada, who will share their healthy eating advice, food inspiration and must-try cooking skills.
Take the Healthy Eating Challenge
Get your friends and family involved with dedicating May 20th as a day of healthy eating — and hopefully that’s just the start! Try this Jamie Oliver-approved meal plan to help you eat well from morning to night.
Breakfast: DIY Oaty Fruity Cereal
Eating a tasty, nutritious breakfast is a great way to help kick-start your day the best way you can. Make a big batch of Jamie’s healthy cereal — it can be stored in an airtight container for up to four weeks! Jamie shares two tasty ways to serve this energy-boosting brekky.
Lunch: Veggie Noodle Stir-Fry
This simple stir-fry is great way to make sure you’re getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs. It’s packed with bright, colourful veggies and fills two of the 5-a-day requirements.
Afternoon Snack: Hummus
High in protein and fibre, chickpeas make a super nutritious and filling snack. Serve with flatbread or crunchy vegetables for dipping.
Dinner: Two Tasty Options
Salmon is a great source of both omega 3, which helps to keep our hearts healthy, and vitamin D which helps to make our bones and teeth strong. This delicious dish is served with pesto-dressed potatoes and fresh greens.
Although we love a good oily fish, we know not everyone enjoys seafood. If you’re craving a fish-free meal, try Jamie’s recipe for whole roasted chicken. This flavourful, juicy recipe is served alongside garlicky root vegetables. And we recommend starting with this simple green salad with lemon dressing to whet the palate before the main event.
