Battered Apple Rings

Bet you can’t eat just one – especially if they are warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of maple syrup.

cup Natrel Lactose Free Milk

cup granulated sugar

cinnamon

Step 1

COMBINE first 5 dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Beat egg and Natrel Lactose Free Milk together. Add to flour mixture and whisk until well blended. Refrigerate 1 hour.

Step 2

COMBINE 1/2 cup (125 mL) granulated sugar with cinnamon. Set aside. Peel and core apples. Cut crosswise into 1/4-inch (5 mm) thick rings. HEAT 1 to 2 inches (3 to 5 cm) of oil in deep-fryer or saucepan to 375°F (190°C). Dip apple slices in batter, allowing excess to drip back into bowl. Fry 3 or 4 at a time in hot oil, turning often until golden, about 4 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Toss in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Serve warm.

Tip:
Brush cut surface of apples lightly with lemon juice to prevent browning.
