A key recipe for the Seder meal, charoset symbolizes the mortar that the Jews enslaved in ancient Egypt used to layer between bricks. It may not look like much, but it’s delicious spread over matzo – a winning mix of apples, nuts and wine. When non-Jewish people are invited to a Seder, this is the dish they love most.

Directions for: Charoset


1 green apple, peeled and chopped

¼ cup walnuts

2 Tbsp sweet Kosher wine, like Manischewitz or Kedem concord grape

½ tsp cinnamon

1 tsp honey


1. Add all ingredients to a food processor and pulse until smooth.

2. Serve with matzo.
