This easy one pot pasta combines the flavours of a melty cheeseburger with creamy pasta, making for the perfect kid-friendly weeknight dinner. It’s a DIY take on the ‘90s classic Hamburger Helper, but made from scratch with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. You could easily customize this recipe to your taste by adding in chili flakes, taco seasoning or your favourite veggies (spinach works beautifully here!), but it’s hard to beat these classic nostalgic flavours as-is.

In a large pot over medium-high heat, add in white onion, ground beef, garlic powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste.
Break up beef and saute until beef has browned and onion is soft and translucent, 6-7 minutes.
Add in broth, milk and pasta. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until pasta is tender and all liquid is absorbed. If all liquid is absorbed and pasta is not cooked through, add in ½ cup of water at a time until pasta is al dente.
Remove Dutch oven from heat, sprinkle in cheese and stir to combine. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
Garnish with green onions and serve while hot and gooey.
