Chocolate French Toast

French toast is a delicious way to start your day and it only gets better with cocoa.

Directions for: Chocolate French Toast


1 cup milk

4 eggs

2 Tbsp brown sugar

2 Tbsp vanilla

2 Tbsp cocoa

Pinch salt

Vegetable oil

4 Tbsp butter

8 slices crusty white bread


1. Preheat a heavy skillet over medium heat. Pour the milk into a large bowl and whisk in the eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, cocoa and salt. Whisk until smooth and cocoa is well incorporated.

2. Add a small splash of the vegetable oil to the pan, when it is hot add1 tablespoon butter to the center of the oil. Dip one slice of bread at a time into the milk mixture soaking up some of the mixture. Coat both sides well. When butter is foaming, add the bread and fry on both sides until rich golden brown. Repeat with the rest of the bread slices, adding more oil and butter as necessary.
