Donair Pizza

Donair pizza is one of those crazy mashups that could have only been hatched on the east coast. Like the beloved donair, it includes all the same fixin's, but with one important addition:  mozzarella cheese. So if you’re having trouble deciding between pizza and a donair, rest assured, now you don’t have to.

Directions for: Donair Pizza


Donair Meat

1 lb(s) lean ground beef

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

1 tsp oregano

½ tsp paprika

¼ tsp cayenne

½ tsp kosher salt

Donair Sauce

⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk

2 Tbsp white vinegar

¼ tsp garlic powder


1 (500 g) package pizza dough

1 ½ cups grated mozzarella cheese

1 cup finely diced tomato, seeded

½ cup finely chopped sweet onion

1 tsp cornmeal


Donair Meat

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine beef with spices (by hand or in a food processor). Whirl until fully combined, about 30 seconds. Form meat into a loaf shape. Place on pan. Bake, in centre of oven, until meat feels firm to the touch, 40 to 50 min. Let cool before slicing length wise as thinly as possible.

Donair Sauce

1. Combine sweetened condensed milk with vinegar and garlic powder.


1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.

2. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll dough into a 14-inch circle. Dust a 15-inch pizza pan with cornmeal.

3. Transfer dough to pan. Arrange donair meat in one even layer over dough. Sprinkle with cheese. Top with tomatoes and onion. Bake in centre of oven until crust is golden brown, about 20 min. Drizzle with donair sauce.
