Puttanesca Dipping Sauce

This simple sauce goes great with calamari.

Directions for: Puttanesca Dipping Sauce


1 Tbsp of olive oil (15 ml)

1 shallot, finely chopped

1 clove of garlic, minced

1 Tbsp of tomato paste (15 ml)

2 anchovy fillets, finely chopped

¼ cup of diced, pitted black olives (60 ml)

1 Tbsp of capers (15 ml)

3 tomatoes, diced

A pinch of chili flakes

¼ cup parsley (60 ml)

Zest of 1/2 lemon

Salt and pepper


1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan on medium heat. Add shallot and sautee for 2 minutes. Add garlic, tomato paste, anchovy, olives, capers and fresh tomato. Sautee for another 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and chili flakes. Add a little water if too thick. Add parsley and lemon zest.
