Strawberry Lemonade

Directions for: Strawberry Lemonade


1 ½ L (6 cups) water

180 mL (3/4 cup) sugar

Grated zest of 1 lemon

1 L (4 cups) fresh or frozen strawberries

Juice of 6 lemons (about 250 ml/1 cup)


1. In a saucepan, bring the water, sugar and lemon zest to a boil.

2. Place the strawberries and lemon juice in a pitcher. Add the hot syrup. Refrigerate until completely chilled, about 4 hours. Strain if desired, but do not press.

3. Serve well chilled.

4. Yield: 2 litres or 8 cups.

5. Notes: For an extra layer of flavour, serve the lemonade in glasses with ice cubes and a few torn leaves of mint or lemon balm. If desired, garnish with fresh strawberries.
