Sweet and Savory Popcorn

Serve both these tasty flavours of popcorn at your next party to please the crowd. Savoury fans will enjoy the Parmesan-herb mix, while those with a sweet tooth will gravitate to the cinnamon sugar-flavoured kernels.

Directions for: Sweet and Savory Popcorn


¼ cup vegetable oil

¾ cup popcorn kernels

1 stick (8 Tbsp) unsalted butter, melted

Parmesan Herb Popcorn

¾ cup finely grated parmesan

1 Tbsp dried Italian seasoning

1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes

Seasoned salt, such as Lawry's

Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn

½ cup sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

Kosher salt

2 Tbsp caramel syrup, such as Monin's


1. Put the oil in a large pot and add the popcorn kernels. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and heat over medium heat. Once the popping starts, shake the pot occasionally until the popping subsides. Transfer the popcorn to 2 large bowls, divide the melted butter between them and toss to coat.

Parmesan Herb Popcorn

1. For the Parmesan herb popcorn: Combine the Parmesan, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and a sprinkle of seasoned salt in a small bowl. Sprinkle on top of 1 of the bowls of buttered popcorn and toss to coat. Makes: 15 cups

Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn

1. For the cinnamon sugar popcorn: Combine the sugar, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl. Sprinkle over the second bowl of buttered popcorn and toss to coat. Drizzle over the caramel syrup. Makes: 15 cups
