  • All-American Birthday Bash: Chocolate-Flavored

    Season 3 - June 30, 2019

    The pressure mounts in the chocolate-themed finale as host Scott Conant challenges the three remaining bakers to create grown-up versions of a brownie sundae. Then the Master Challenge is to make a Happy Birthday USA chocolate fireworks cake to celebrate July 4th! The elaborately decorated cake for 100 people must feature fireworks-themed chocolate and sugar decorations, three types of chocolate and two types of macarons with salty snacks as the featured ingredient. Bakery owner Elizabeth Chambers joins judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid to choose the winner of the title Best Baker in America.

  • Tiny and Tall Desserts

    Season 3 - June 23, 2019

    It's the last chance to get into the finale, and host Scott Conant challenges the four remaining bakers to make miniature versions of two pastry classics. In the Master Challenge, they each create a tall dessert of their choosing with at least 12 solid layers and sesame as the featured flavour. Pastry chef Nancy Silverton joins judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid to decide which three bakers move on to the finale.

  • Themed Desserts: Toy Story 4

    Season 3 - June 16, 2019

    The five remaining bakers start by making Toy Story-themed mini desserts perfect for a movie premiere party. For the Master Challenge, host Scott Conant challenges the competitors to each choose a character from Disney Pixar's Toy Story 4 to replicate in cake, and they have to include a flavour that speaks to the spirit of their character. Pastry chef Shinmin Li joins judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid to eliminate one baker from the competition.

  • Classic French Pastries Reinvented

    Season 3 - June 9, 2019

    Host Scott Conant challenges the six bakers left in the competition to recreate a beloved French classic, the eclair. For the Master Challenge, the competitors have to reimagine a classic French entremet cake using almond as the featured flavour. French pastry chef Florian Bellanger joins judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid to decide which baker is sent home.

  • Summer Vacation Desserts

    Season 3 - June 2, 2019

    The seven remaining bakers start out by making perfect floating island desserts. In the Master Challenge, host Scott Conant asks them to create a flaming bombe Alaska with mango as the featured flavor. Chocolatier Valerie Gordon joins judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid to deliberate and give one baker their marching orders.

  • Surprise Desserts

    Season 3 - May 26, 2019

    The theme is surprises, and the eight competitors are tasked with showing their mastery of molten lava cakes. In the Master Challenge, the bakers must create smashable desserts using meringue, sugar or chocolate and coconut as the featured flavour. Acclaimed pastry chef Sherry Yard joins judges Marcela Valladolid and Jason Smith to decide which baker goes home.

  • Royal Cakes

    Season 3 - May 19, 2019

    The competition begins with nine of America's top professional bakers. Host Scott Conant announces a royal baking theme and challenges the competitors to create perfect mini princess cakes. In the Master Challenge, the bakers have to create spectacular royal baby celebration cakes for 100 people using elderflower and lemon as the featured flavours. Judges Marcela Valladolid, Jason Smith and Zac Young deliberate, and one baker is eliminated.

  • Chocolate Crescendo

    Season 2 - June 18, 2018

    In what is becoming a Best Baker in America tradition, the finale is all about the world's most beloved ingredient -- chocolate. In the Skills Challenge, the three remaining bakers must create a perfect version of the glazed Austrian chocolate cake called sachertorte. The final Master Challenge is to create the ultimate chocolate cake for 100 people that features caramel flavor and elaborate chocolate decorations, three types of chocolate and three flavors of chocolate bonbons. Social media baking sensation Yolanda Gampp is the guest judge joining Marcela Valladolid and Jason Smith to decide which baker is named the Best Baker in America.

  • Old-School Classics

    Season 2 - June 11, 2018

    The four remaining bakers have one more chance to get into the Best Baker in America finale. Their Skills Challenge is to make historic Mont Blanc cakes, which are tarts topped with a tower of chestnut paste. In the Master Challenge, the bakers have to make a striking cake called a Charlotte Royale -- also known as "brain cake" -- with peanut butter as the featured flavor. Acclaimed pastry chef Florian Bellanger joins Marcela Valladolid and Jason Smith on the judge's panel as one baker's dreams are dashed and the remaining competitors head into the finale.

  • Magnificent Meringue

    Season 2 - June 4, 2018

    The five remaining bakers must make mini meringue pies in the Skills Challenge. In the Master Challenge, they're challenged to feature raspberry flavor in a classical French layered meringue cake called a marjolaine. Pastry chef Shinmin Li serves as a guest judge, joining Marcela Valladolid and Jason Smith to eliminate one baker from the competition.

  • East Coast Classics

    Season 2 - May 28, 2018

    The six bakers left in the competition face a Skills Challenge to create flawless mini Boston cream pies. For the Master Challenge, they're asked to bake their version of the "ultimate" New York cheesecake with apple as the featured flavor. Cake genius and social media star, Joshua John Russell, joins Marcela Valladolid and Jason Smith as a guest judge for the Master Challenge, and one baker is sent home.

  • Summer Desserts

    Season 2 - May 21, 2018

    The seven remaining bakers begin by making perfect strawberry shortcake in the Skills Challenge. In the Master Challenge, the bakers must create a "fire and ice" dessert that features one frozen element, one bruleed element and has mint as the featured flavor. Guest judge, acclaimed pastry chef Sherry Yard, joins Marcela Valladolid and Jason Smith to judge the final challenge and decide which baker is given his or her marching orders.

  • Wedding Spectacular

    Season 2 - May 14, 2018

    The remaining eight bakers are charged with making perfect wedding-themed mini mousse cakes in the Skills Challenge. In the Master Challenge, the bakers must create a croquembouche-inspired wedding tower that includes two types of pastry and uses champagne as the featured flavor. Pastry chef and dessert wizard Zac Young joins Marcela Valladolid and Jason Smith to judge the final round and send one baker packing.

  • Cake, Glorious Cake

    Season 2 - May 7, 2018

    Nine of America's elite professional bakers gather to begin the first in a series of 14 challenges designed to test the limits of their baking mastery. Host, Chef Scott Conant, tasks the bakers with baking perfect Petit Fours in the first Skills Challenge. In the Master Challenge, the bakers must create a mind-bending cake for fifty people using vanilla as the featured flavor. After deliberating with judges Marcela Valladolid, Jason Smith and guest judge Gemma Stafford, one baker is eliminated.

  • Chocolate

    Season 1 - December 16, 2017

    The pressure is on as the final three bakers take on the most revered and beloved of all baking ingredients: chocolate. In the Skills Challenge, the bakers must make a perfect version of the ever-temperamental chocolate souffle. For the final Master Challenge, the bakers must create the ultimate chocolate cake -- a truly spectacular, elaborately-decorated cake, using some type of liquor as the required featured flavor. In the end, host Adam Rapoport and judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid will declare one baker the Best Baker in America and award them a $25,000 prize!

  • Modern Classics

    Season 1 - December 9, 2017

    The four remaining bakers vie for the finale as they make mini mirror glaze cakes -- perfectly mirrored on the outside with layered mousse on the inside -- in the Skills Challenge. In the Master Challenge, the bakers must bake, plate and present a two-course dessert tasting menu feature chilies and fennel. Host Adam Rapoport and judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid decide which bakers have what it takes to move on to the finale.

  • Cafe Classics

    Season 1 - December 2, 2017

    Five bakers are left, and for the Skills Challenge, they tackle the deceptively simple creme brulee. For the Master Challenge, the task is to bake up their take on the complex and beautiful opera cake, a six-layer masterpiece said to evoke the tiers of the Paris Opera House, which must feature the flavor of hazelnut. One baker is given his or her marching orders by judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid and host Adam Rapoport.

  • Pastry

    Season 1 - November 25, 2017

    The six remaining bakers must make perfect mini fruit tarts using pate sucree, or sweet pastry, in the Skills Challenge. Then, for the Master Challenge, the bakers are given their hardest task yet: their original version of a St Honore Cake, which must contain elements of puff pastry, pate au choux, and creme chiboust, as well as feature the required flavor of coffee. One baker is sent home by host Adam Rapoport and judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid.

  • Meringue

    Season 1 - November 18, 2017

    Seven bakers remain, and for the Skills Challenge they are charged with making two different flavors of macarons. Then, in the Master Challenge, the bakers must make their own highly-creative take on the dessert classic, baked Alaska, using torched meringue, cake and ice cream, with strawberry as the featured flavor. One baker is sent packing by host Adam Rapoport and judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid.

  • Cake

    Season 1 - November 11, 2017

    Eight of America's top bakers gather to put their baking brilliance to the test. Host and editor of Bon Appetit magazine, Adam Rapoport, announces that in the first Skills Challenge, the bakers must create flawless mini upside-down cakes. Then, in the Master Challenge, the bakers are tasked with making a double barrel or three-tiered wedding cake for 50 people using lemon as the featured flavor. After deliberation with the judges, Food Network Star winner Jason Smith and The Kitchen's Marcela Valladolid, one baker is eliminated.
