Collingwood Bread Company (Collingwood, ON)

“Whenever I'm in Collingwood, Ontario visiting friends, I always hit up the Collingwood Bread Company on Keith Avenue for a loaf of their beloved sourdough. It's the best bread I've ever had — perfectly crispy on the outside and so soft in the middle! It's not unusual for them to sell out of everything, so get there early to avoid being disappointed.” — Jenn P., editor, HGTV Canada

Check out the Collingwood Bread Company for their latest here.
-

Brick Street Bakery (Toronto, ON)

“Toronto’s Brick Street Bakery in Leslieville is tucked away on a side street (you’d likely miss it if strolling along Queen). It’s my go-to spot for sticky-sweet pastries, just-buttery-enough croissants and ready-to-bake turnovers, including savoury options like feta and spinach. The scent alone is enough to keep me lingering… and ordering enough for a family of six (we are a household of two).” — Brittany D., digital strategist, Food Network Canada

Check out the Brick Street Bakery for their latest here, and in the meantime, try Anna Olsen’s almond, cheese and pain au twist on the classic croissant.
-

The Mariposa Bakery (Orillia, ON)

“My favourite bakery is in Orillia, Ontario. The Mariposa Bakery is a bit of a local landmark. They have counters and counters of sweet treats: Fudge, brownies, cookies, pastries. It is also the favourite place in our family to get a birthday cake. The service is great and the atmosphere is electric (maybe because everyone is on a sugar high?). If you don't want sugar, there are also sandwiches, salads and other snacks.” — Frank P., producer, HGTV Canada

Check out The Mariposa Bakery for their latest here, and take your fudge cravings to the next level with these fudge ‘n’ banana cupcakes.
-

Purebread (Vancouver, BC)

“I still dream of the beautiful display cases of cookies, brownies, cupcakes, scones and muffins at Purebread in Vancouver. Fun fact: when I was living in BC, I spent $40 to overnight-express a box of my fave sweet treats to my Food Network Canada colleagues back in Toronto for them to enjoy at the yearly holiday cookie exchange.” — Jen F., editor, Food Network Canada

Check out the Purebread for their latest here.
-

Beechwood Doughnuts (St. Catharines, ON)

“My favourite bakery is located in my hometown St. Catharines, Ontario. Beechwood Doughnuts is located on one of the main streets in the downtown core and is easy to spot because there’s typically a line halfway down the street. They have the most delicious array of vegan doughnuts and every time I’m home visiting friends and family I try to find time to visit the store and score some doughnuts. My favourite is their Blueberry Maple Crumble but honestly, they all taste like winners.” — Wylder R., social strategist, Food Network Canada

Check out Beechwood Doughnuts for their latest here.
-

Fahmee Bakery & Hodo Kwaja (Toronto, ON)

“Back when we worked from an actual office and I didn't feel like cooking after a busy day, I would stop at Fahmee Bakery for their delicious Jamaican baked goods. From freshly made beef or veggie patties to jam-packed jerk sandwiches on homemade coco bread, these flavourful dishes always hit the spot for a busy weeknight meal. Their housemade hot sauce is a favourite as well!

For a sweet fix, I love Hodo Kwaja in Toronto's Koreatown, which literally means "walnut cake". Fitting, as they serve up dozens of tiny walnut-shaped desserts filled with mashed potato and nut or red bean. They're both adorable and addictive. Do yourself a favour and also grab a warm Korean brown sugar pancake with a coffee. You'll thank me later.” — Lydia H., producer, Food Network Canada

Check out the Fahmee Bakery and Hodo Kwaja for their latest here.
-

The Rolling Pin (Toronto, ON)

“To be honest, I don't really have a sweet tooth. However, I will never turn away some baked goods from The Rolling Pin in Toronto. They make the most indulgent doughnuts that will really hit the spot when you need a sweet fix. They even provide a daily schedule on their site, so you know what delicious doughnut flavours they're whipping up that week. They have flavours like apple pie, French toast, lemon crinkle cookie and so much more. Seriously, so good. The best part? It's run and owned by two badass womxn who had a dream to own a Toronto bakery and made it happen.” — Melissa T., digital strategist, Slice and History

Check out The Rolling Pin for their latest here, and in the meantime, give our Texas toast recipe a try.
-

Columbus Bakery (Toronto, ON)

“As we have some family in Colombia, I was exposed to all sorts of delicious foods from this Latin American country. One of my all-time favourite treats are "almojábanas" — a delicious, soft cheese bun. While you can certainly make them yourself if you can get your hands on queso fresco and corn flour, Columbus Bakery in the Dufferin and Lawrence neighbourhood in Toronto serves them up warm with zero prep or cleanup. As an added bonus, you can find other Colombian delicacies, including alfajores — a delicious dulce de leche sandwich cookie. Enough said.” — Dragana K., assistant editor, Slice

Check out Columbus Bakery for their latest here. Deadly Grounds (Courtice, ON)

“I love a good theme, and Deadly Grounds in Courtice, Ontario feeds my craving for both campy horror and caffeine. Not only are the horror movie-themed naming convention puns as bone dry as dad jokes, their food and coffee is delicious. The music is always zany. Playing poker to The Karate Kid soundtrack with grandmother is a special memory. They've also always got local wares in stock – like Hurt Berry Farm hot sauce. My go-to baked good is the jalapeno cheddar bagel and coffee has got to be Dot's Diener.” — Alexa K., manager, social – lifestyle

Check out Deadly Grounds for their latest here.
-

Tre Mari Bakery (Toronto, ON)

“This bakery has been a neighbourhood staple since 1960 – and it’s the best place to go to if you’re looking for authentic Italian baked goods. From fresh bread and imported pantry items to homemade sauces and desserts, the food will remind you of dinners with Nonna. I’m a huge fan of cannoli and Tre Mari makes the best ones in the city. The golden shells are flaky perfection and the thick and creamy ricotta filling is out of this world. Bon appetit!” — Laura G., assistant editor, Food Network Canada and HGTV Canada

Check out Tre Mari Bakery for their latest here.
