The handy Swiss Army Knife is a chef’s best friend when cooking on the fly — exactly what the competitors on the hit show Cutthroat Kitchen do each week when ingredients and utensils are thieved by dueling saboteur chefs!

Riveting host Alton Brown did an interview a while back and discussed auction items on the show. “If it comes down to you and me and the auction item is a Swiss Army knife… At what point do you say, ‘You know what?  You go ahead. You spend $6,000 on that knife and I’ll use that knife and I’m still gonna win!’” This got us thinking about what to cook if a Swiss Army Knife was our lone kitchen tool, which will be the case for many of you culinary adventurers going camping this fall.

Whether you’re planning an a backyard meal, cozy campfire dinner, or plotting a culinary competitor’s demise, we’ve got five recipes to put this mini-but-mighty tool to good use.
