Inspired by a family meatball recipe, this all-beef hot dog blends the best of both worlds – delicious street food and home-cooked comfort food – topped with 4 mini beef meatballs, fresh tomato sauce, sliced Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley and Barilla spaghetti!

Spaghetti

- 5 L water
salt, to taste
Barilla spaghetti

4 Mini Meatballs

lb(s) ground beef
½
lb(s) ground veal
½
lb(s) pork

eggs
1
onion, grated

Tbsp parsley, finely chopped

Tbsp oregano
1
Tbsp basil
1
tsp salt and pepper
¾
cup breadcrumbs
½
cup milk

Tomato Sauce

3
cans peeled tomatoes, puréed
2
large onion, diced
⅛ cup sugar
1
Tbsp garlic, minced
2
Tbsp basil
1
pinch salt and pepper

Assembly

1
all-beef lamb-cased hot dog, flat grilled to desired temperature
1
egg bun, steamed or toasted
Spaghetti

Mini Meatballs
Tomato Sauce
Parmesan cheese, grated
fresh parsley, chopped

Step 1

Bring water to a boil and salt to taste. Add spaghetti boiling water and cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain.

Step 2

Blend all ingredients until completely mixed. Roll into quarter-sized balls and pan fry for 7-10 minutes.

Step 3

Sauté onions and garlic. Add all remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

Step 4

Assembly all ingredients and enjoy!
