Watch: 10 Things to Know About Rhett & Link

Food Network Canada welcomes two hilarious new faces to the network and YouTube fans, you’ll recognize this dynamic duo. Rhett James McLaughlin and Link Neal are an internet-famous pair, best known for their YouTube morning show Good Mythical Morning. Over the past decade, the self-proclaimed “Internetainers” have taste-tested and competed in food challenges and now they’re going behind the closed doors into the test kitchens of some of America’s biggest brands. (Chipotle, The Cheesecake Factory and Beyond Meat, we’re looking at you.) Before joining them on that delicious food journey, read on to learn more about Rhett and Link and find out why they’re our new favourite friends to follow along of their fun foodie adventures.

They are lifelong friends

You’d be right if you think the duo has the natural chemistry and the rapport of long-time friends. Rhett and Link have been best buds since meeting in the first grade growing up in North Carolina. The mischievous pair solidified their friendship by getting into trouble together and landing in detention where they coloured in drawings of mythical beasts as their “punishment”. This is also where the name of their fan base (The Mythical Beasts) comes from!

Rhett and Link went to school together

Not only do the duo have 35+ years of friendship, they also went through many of their most pivotal moments in life together, including the majority of their school years. From classmates in elementary school to middle school and high school. And it didn’t stop there both applied and were accepted to North Carolina State University where they were roommates.

They have amassed a huge social media following

The duo currently have over 17.6 million subscribers on YouTube, and that’s just on their main channel, Good Mythical Morning. Their secondary channel Good Mythical More has over 4 million subscribers and both of their personal Instagram accounts have upwards of 800-thousand followers. That’s a lot of eyeballs on their content!

They’ve been making food videos for over a decade

Rhett and Link recently celebrated ten years as YouTube creators on their daily food videos (posted every weekday). In fact, Good Mythical Morning is the most-watched daily show on YouTube, amassing nearly 8 billion views to date. Their top-viewed episode “Amazing Game Show Cheaters” has 31 million views alone.

They aren’t professional chefs

While Rhett and Link have worked in the food media industry for over a decade, tasting and talking about snacks on their various Mythical ventures, they are not trained chefs. They consider themselves two guys who work in the food world without making food. “More like food friends,” or professional tasters they describe in an episode of their podcast.


They’ve appeared on television multiple times

Prior to their new show on Food Network Canada, Rhett and Link have made many appearances on your television including on The Tonight Show, Conan, Lopez Tonight and more. Inside Eats with Rhett and Link also isn’t their first foray into hosting a television show. In 2011, the pair hosted Rhett & Link: Commercial Kings. The show aired for one season and explored the low-cost television ads the duo produced for local businesses.

They are podcasters

It’s not just YouTube for these two! In addition to their daily YouTube show, they also have a podcast called Ear Biscuits with a new episode released every week. The podcast explores their (often comedic) takes on everything from their friendship, favourite-ever gifts and cherished memories, as well as more serious and personal topics ranging from faith to their fatherhood journeys. They even have an episode all about their new Food Network show where they discuss their experience filming and their guesses for how they’ll fit in on the network.

They’re published authors

The multi-talented Rhett and Link have expanded their empire beyond screens and devices with a book released in 2017, Rhett & Link’s Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and Tomfoolery. The book was met with positive reception from their fans (ie. The Mythical Beasts) and has a 4.8/5 star rating on Amazon.

They’re taller than they appear on your screen

To answer one of the most highly searched questions about the pair – yes, Rhett and Link are both tall! Link stands at 6’0 while his partner in crime Rhett stands tall at 6’7.


They’ve collaborated with multiple celebrities

The duo have caught the attention of many celebrities and even collaborated with an impressive list on their YouTube channel. Their most popular collab? They’ve done multiple videos with rapper Post Malone and their fans have been literally eating up the comedic videos.
