Chef, mother and entrepreneur at the forefront of Chinese food domination in San Francisco, Kathy Fang is a force to be reckoned with. She’s a trained chef and the co-owner of Fang (along with her father Peter Fang), but there’s so much to know about this dynamic new face in the Food Network Family.
She comes from a restauranteur dynasty
Both Kathy’s father and grandmother operated restaurants in San Francisco. Peter Fang opened House of Nanking in 1988, a local favourite serving Cantonese cuisine. Together, Peter and Kathy own and operate the upscale sister restaurant, Fang.
Kathy is trained in both culinary arts and business
While she grew up in kitchens, Kathy studied operations management and entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California before pursuing her love of cooking at the Le Cordon Blue Culinary School in Los Angeles.
It’s not her first time on your television screen
Chef Dynasty: House of Fang won’t be the first time Kathy has graced your screen. In fact, it’s not even her first time on a Food Network show! Kathy is a two time Chopped champion and has also competed on Alex vs America.
She loves to travel and shares her journeys online
From trips to Indonesia with her husband to lavish lifestyling in Abu Dhabi, Kathy has travelled (or staycationed) all over with her family. Read her first hand accounts of her travels on her blog, including some of the tastiest bites she’s eaten around the world and check out her impressive list of countries she’s travelled to.
Kathy is dedicated to health and fitness
When she’s not eating the best every world cuisine has to offer, Kathy enjoy sharing her health-forward recipes like this light and tasty two-minute breakfast recipe or her low-carb meatball soup. Beyond eating a healthy diet, Kathy focuses on keeping active in the gym.
