This Canadian flat bread is a delicious part of our culture.

ingredients

cup all purpose flour
2
Tbsp baking powder
2
Tbsp granulated sugar
1
tsp salt
½
cup lard
½
cup butter
1
cup water
1
cup milk

Step 1
In large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
Step 2
Using pastry blender or two knives, cut in lard until fine crumbs form.
Step 3
Stirring with fork, gradually add enough of the water to form ball.
Step 4
Flatten to form circle about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick.
Step 5
Using 2 1/2-inch (6 cm) cookie cutter, cut out biscuits. Place on baking sheet.
Step 6
Gather dough and repeat.
Step 7
Bake in centre of 425 F (220 C) oven for about 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
