Enjoy This Chilled Rose Cooler with Basil Seeds for Ramadan

This rose cooler is a staple drink for most households during the month of Ramadan. It is aromatic and the basil seeds add an amazing cooling effect. This makes it a perfect thirst quencher for the month of fasting. To make this drink, you only need a few ingredients! It is refreshing, simple and nostalgic.

ingredients

Rose Syrup

cup water

cup Sugar

cup organic red rose petals
½
Tbsp rose water

tsp lemon juice

tsp red food coloring or organic beetroot powder (optional)

Rose Cooler

Tbsp rose syrup (store-bought or homemade)

ml carbonated water

Tbsp Basil seeds

Tbsp rose water

scoops crushed ice

Step 1

To make the rose syrup, add the water, sugar, food coloring (optional) in a medium sized saucepan, cook on low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.

Step 2

Add rose petals and boil for 5 minutes. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for another 10 minutes. Remove the pot from heat, add rose water and lemon juice.

Step 3

Strain and store in an airtight container.

Step 4

To make the cooler: Soak the basil seeds with 1 Tbsp of cold water for 30 seconds

Equally divide the rose syrup into two glasses, add the soaked basil, 1 Tbsp of carbonated water and stir. 

Step 6

Add the crushed ice and the remaining carbonated water into the prepared glass. Stir with a straw and enjoy. 

Step 7

Note: To make it a little extra special you can add 1 scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The best float you’d ever drink!
