Ingredients

slices whole wheat or multigrain bread

MacIntosh apples, cored and thinly sliced

large eggs

Tbsp milk (45ml)
butter

Adults:

slices Swiss cheese

slices deli turkey breast

tsp Dijon mustard (10ml)

Children:

slices medium orange cheddar cheese

slices turkey bacon, cooked

Directions

Step 1

Whisk eggs and milk together in a shallow dish.

Assemble sandwiches by:

Children: Layer bread with cheddar cheese slice, apple, turkey bacon, cheddar cheese slice, and top with remaining bread.

Step 4

Adults: Spread Dijon mustard on bread slices. Layer bread with swiss cheese slice, apple, sliced turkey, swiss cheese slice, and top with remaining bread.

Step 5

Heat 1 tbsp/15 mL of butter over medium heat in a large nonstick skillet. Dip sandwiches in egg mixture until coated. Cook in batches until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side, adding more butter to the pan, if necessary.

Step 6

Tip: Serve with warm maple syrup, if desired. Sliced ham and cooked bacon would also work well here as a substitute for the turkey.
