Homemade Peanut Satay Sauce

The sauce stores in the refrigerator for a long time, like peanut butter but it is the consistency of a sauce. The oils can separate if you haven’t used it in a while. Simply whisk or stir together to combine.

Ingredients

cup salted Spanish or roasted peanuts with skins (750 mL)

cup water (325 mL)

tsp Sambal Oelek ground chili paste (2.5 mL)

Tbsp sweet soy sauce (15 mL)

Tbsp lime juice (20 mL)

tsp kosher salt (5 mL)
cup Demerra or dark brown sugar

Tbsp dark soy sauce (30 mL)

Directions

Step 1

Place peanuts in food processor on high until completely ground.

Step 2

Toss all other ingredients in processor starting with water.

Step 3

Blend until smooth.
