John Catucci says You Gotta Eat Pies!
On National Eat What You Want Day (yes, it's a real thing!), there's nothing John Catucci wants more than a freshly baked pie. "There are not enough places that are doing pies. I want more pies! Not just savoury pies, I want dessert pies," says the You Gotta Eat Here! host. Lucky for him, we have an array of flavours to choose from, whether you prefer cherry, chocolate or strawberry rhubarb.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

When visiting Shuswap Pie Company in Salmon Arm, B.C., John sampled their legendary strawberry rhubarb pie declaring it "the best pie I've had in my life." He says the crust, both tender and flaky, was absolute perfection.
-

Cherry Pie

John was rolling in dough at Anna Mae's, a Mennonite-run restaurant in Millbank, Ontario. The cherry pie is one of their most popular items on the menu. "I will eat an entire pie," says John. "That’s my downfall."
-

Texas Trash Pie

You gotta head down south to Round Top, Texas for a slice of this mouth-watering pie. At Royer's Round Top, they bake caramel, chocolate chips, coconut, graham crackers and pretzels into a pie crust for what they call "Texas Trash."
-

Junkberry Pie

Another hot item from Royer's Round Top is this sweet tart containing just about every type of berry imaginable. John loves his pies with crust on both sides, so this Junkberry is more like his Treasureberry.
-

Flapper Pie

John loved this dessert pie from Hilltop Diner in Langley, B.C., with an egg-based meringue filling that's both spongy and creamy.

Leave your dinner guests wanting seconds with this recipe for Flapper Pie.
-

Sugar Pie

According to John, Wilf & Ada's, a newly renovated diner in the heart of downtown Ottawa, serves "the cutest breakfast ever." Sweet Potato Pie

Sweet potato pie is a new tradition for some; it’s similar to a pumpkin pie, but with a little extra something going on. Antionette's in Whitehorse, Yukon, serves up Caribbean and Canadian infused meals, including this Tobagonian-style dessert.
