Starbucks is introducing something totally new to its menu — refreshers with raspberry-flavoured boba pearls! While flavoured pearls have been on the menu for years at Starbucks stores in Asia, this is the first time they are being added to drinks in Canada.

What are Starbucks 2024 boba summer drinks?

Returning to Starbucks’ summer menu this year is the White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew. This sweet and nutty cold brew launched last summer and was a hit with Starbucks fans. So the company decided to bring it back to help fans beat the heat. In addition, Starbucks is adding its new raspberry-flavoured boba pearls to three new refresher drinks.

The three drinks featuring the new raspberry-flavoured boba this summer are the Summer-Berry Refresher, the Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher and the Summer Skies Drink. The summer drinks feature flavours of raspberry, blackberry and blueberry for a super sweet summery sip. We got the chance to try the new refreshers with the flavoured pearls first, so here is our review and ranking from worst to best.

Summer Skies Drink

This non-dairy drink features the Summer-Berry Refreshers coconut beverage over ice with a layer of the new popping raspberry-flavoured pearls. Visually this drink is stunning with the cloudy blue drink and the bright pink pearls. It has a very strong blueberry flavour and the burst of the raspberry pearls adds an extra layer of refreshing flavour. We found it a bit too sweet for our liking but if you like a sweet and creamy sip with a burst of flavour, you will love this drink.

Summer-Berry Refresher

With sweet notes of raspberry, blackberry and blueberry shaken with ice and poured over popping raspberry-flavoured pearls, this Refresher is light and (as the name suggests) refreshing. Compared to its lemonade counterpart, this drink is not as sweet and lighter in flavour. The blackberry flavour shines through in this drink. Also, the flavoured pearls add a nice additional pop of raspberry flavour, which we really enjoyed. The Refresher base for this drink was a little light and watered down for our taste, but if you’re looking for a subtly sweet refreshing summer drink, you will love this refresher. It definitely quenched our thirst.

Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher

The Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher takes the base from the Summer-Berry Refresher, along with the raspberry pearls and kicks it up a notch by adding lemonade into the mix. This was by far our favourite drink because it was sweet but the tartness of the lemonade balanced it out beautifully. The raspberry flavour shines through the most with this refresher and it is only elevated by the popping raspberry pearls. This drink screams pool day and we can’t wait to sip on it this summer.
