Starbucks Just Launched Their Pistachio Cream Cold Brew, Here’s Our Honest Review

Starbucks Canada

The holiday season has come and gone, and so have our favourite Starbucks holiday drinks. Thankfully, Starbucks hasn’t left us empty handed – with the recent launch of their Winter 2023 menu, they brought back winter menu staples like the Pistachio Latte (available in hot, iced or Frappuccino form) the heart-shaped sugar cookie and the beloved valentine’s cake pop.

Most excitingly, the menu also features an all-new drink, the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew. At first glance, it may seem a bit odd to introduce a cold coffee drink in the chilliest months of the year. However, the introduction of this drink is a clear indication that more and more coffee drinkers are reaching for cold coffee regardless of the temperature outside. The Pistachio Cream Cold Brew is “sweetened with vanilla syrup, and topped with silky, pistachio cream cold foam and salted brown buttery sprinkles.” Sounds delicious, but how does it taste? Read on for our review!

Subtle, salty and sweet

Many cold brews can be intense and leave a bitter aftertaste. But the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew finds the perfect balance between the coffee, vanilla syrup and pistachio cream. Unlike the Starbucks Starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew, which can be overwhelmingly vanilla for some, none of the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew flavours are too overpowering or intense, making for the perfect subtle sip.

But the real star of this new drink has to be the salted brown buttery sprinkles. The salty sprinkles are the first thing you taste when you take a sip, and they they provide a welcome salty contrast to the sweet, nutty cold brew. We are prepared to add them on any and all of our favourite Starbucks drinks. Imagine how good they would be on top of the Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso!

The verdict

If you’re looking for a new drink this winter to replace your favourite holiday beverage, we definitely recommend giving the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew a go. And if you’re craving a sweet treat to nibble on while you sip, the Valentine’s Cake Pop makes for an excellent pairing. The rich chocolate brownie filling is the perfect decadent accompaniment to the nutty-sweet latte, and will bring you back to the nostalgic days of swapping Valentine’s Day cards with your classmates and friends.

Starbucks winter menu food and beverages are available at Starbucks stores nationwide for a limited time, while supplies last. A medium sized (also known as a grande) Pistachio Cream Cold Brew will retail for $5.25 plus tax (prices may vary by region).
