Dal Soup

This lentil soup has just the right amount of spice to warm you up on a chilly night.

Directions for: Dal Soup

Ingredients

2 Tbsp grapeseed oil (30 ml)

1 Tbsp chopped garlic (15 ml)

1 Tbsp cumin seeds (15 ml)

1 tsp turmeric (5 ml)

1 Tbsp garam masala (15 ml)

pinch salt

1 cup chopped tomatoes (250 ml)

1 cup brown lentils (250 ml)

6 cup water (1.5 L)

cilantro sprigs for garnish

Directions

1. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until it begins to get hot. Add garlic and spices and cook for 20 seconds. Add tomatoes, lentils and water, cover and bring to a boil. Turn heat to low and simmer until the lentils are tender, about 25 to 30 minutes. Serve in a bowl and garnish with fresh cilantro sprigs.
