Hawaiian pizza may sound (and taste) exotic, but it’s actually an Ontario creation. That said, we won’t hold it against you if your mind drifts to the tropics while chowing down on a pineapple laden slice. Unlike other pies, the Hawaiian delivers big on the salty-sweet flavours so many of us crave; making it no surprise this small town favourite is now a global star.
Preheat oven to 450ºF.
Dust a 15-inch pizza pan with cornmeal.
Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll dough into a 14-inch circle. Transfer to pan.
Add sauce in one even layer. Sprinkle with cheese. Top with pineapple and ham.
Bake in centre of oven until crust is golden brown, about 20 minutes.
