Does Starbucks have anything for St. Patrick’s Day?

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Starbucks has released the Luck of the Matcha Frappuccino. Inspired by a pot of gold found at the end of a rainbow, the frappuccino has a creamy matcha base and is topped with whipped cream, caramel sauce and crunchy caramel sugar pieces.

What does the Starbucks Luck of the Matcha Frappuccino taste like?

As much as we love Starbucks matcha and all things caramel, we were very hesitant about this. When we think about a flavour to combine with matcha we think of white chocolate.  And we have to admit, the first sip of this drink was a little weird. Not necessarily bad — just weird. The creamy matcha and the crunchy caramel pieces clashed slightly, both in flavour and texture. However the more we drank it, the earthiness of the matcha came out and blended with the richness of the caramel very nicely. That being said, will we order this again? Probably not but we’re glad we tried it! Next time we’ll just get a Lavender Cream Oat Matcha or a Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew.
