Food Network Canada celebrities Michael Smith, Roger Mooking, John Catucci, Mark McEwan, John Higgins and Bob Blumer came together to support Second Harvest‘s annual fundraiser, and one of Toronto’s premiere culinary events, Toronto Taste last Sunday.

In its 25th year, this downright delicious event had its most successful turnout, raising $850,000 for Second Harvest. These funds will help provide 1,700,000 meals for people facing hunger. Second Harvest, the largest food rescue program in Canada, picks up donated fresh food and delivers it to hundreds of community agencies that help feed people in need.

@Foodieyu snapped this amazing group shot of John Catucci, Mark McEwan and Bob Blumer together at the event.

Some of our favourite highlights from Toronto Taste, include: Michael Smith showing Torontonians some Island love by shucking and serving PEI oysters with his special recipe for bloody Mary ice. We got to sample Mark McEwan‘s delicious crispy chicken taco with Korean BBQ, crisp Asian slaw and a sesame aioli. Roger Mooking played double duty at the event, acting as co-host and serving up this gorgeous plate of fried chicken with crispy basil from his new restaurant Twist.

And John Higgins, representing the George Brown College Chef School along with other faculty, served up this tender salt cod morsel.
